Random Letter Wheel (A-Z)
Spin for a random letter for word games, phonics practice and category quizzes. Choose all 26 letters, vowels only, consonants only or a “no hard letters” set.
Tap the wheel, flick it, or press Ctrl + Enter
Large list: edit it in Text view.
Tip: add *3 after an entry to triple its chance, or a colour like #16A34A to colour its slice.
…This hash locks in the next result before you spin. After the spin we reveal the seed so anyone can check it.Games to play with a random letter

- Spin or flick the wheel.
- Turn on auto-remove for rounds without repeats.
Pair it with the combo wheel to spin a letter and a category together.
Letter frequency: why some letters are harder

In English, E, T, A, O and I are the most common letters, while Q, X, Z and J are the rarest. That is why category games become very difficult when the wheel lands on Z or X. The “No hard letters” preset removes Q, U, V, X, Y and Z so rounds stay fun; teachers practising phonics may prefer the full alphabet.
Phonics practice ideas
- Sound it out: spin, say the letter sound and clap the number of syllables in a word that starts with it.
- Vowel or consonant: children call out which one it is before you reveal it.
- Uppercase and lowercase: students write both forms on mini whiteboards.
- Word hunt: find three objects in the room starting with the letter.
Classic category game rules
Choose 6-10 categories (animal, country, food, name, job, thing in a kitchen). Spin a letter, start a 60-second timer and everyone writes one answer per category. Unique answers score 2 points, shared answers 1 point. Turn on auto-remove so each letter appears only once per game. For category plus letter in one spin, use the combo wheel.
